I have a client who is an irrevocable trust. The trust received two Forms 1099-MISC for rental income rather than royalties purportedly for mineral rights. The land is located in Reeves County, Texas. The trustee said that she does not have a contract with either of the issuers nor have they received any payments from these companies. Any legal resources in this field would be helpful to determine the story here. I'm gather more information from the trustee.
